Have you ever driven by the Honey Veil bakery in South Miami and thought, what would I even order? Well, we tried the whole matcha menu and reviewed each drink to help you next time that question comes up.
Banana Bread Matcha Latte: 6.5/10.
The Banana Bread Matcha Latte, one of their most popular lattes, was a very sweet, rich drink. It had an intense banana bread flavor that overpowered the taste of the matcha. The drink was also slightly grainy. As a sweet treat, we would recommend this drink, but for a staple order we wouldn’t advise ordering it.
Mizu Matcha: Nina rates this Matcha a 9/10, and Mila rates this one a 1/10.
This matcha is an acquired taste; only people who enjoy very bitter matcha would love this drink. However, if you are someone who enjoys matcha lattes that have a little bit of sweetener, this drink is not for you. It has neither milk or sweetener, giving it a rather strong flavor.
Yuzu Spritz Matcha: 7/10
This drink is very refreshing because it mixes yuzu, a japanese citrus fruit, with sparkling water and matcha. It is carbonated as well, which makes it perfect for a hot day.
UM 305 Matcha Latte: -3/10
This “drink” was dreadful. The flavor of bitter artificial orange syrup mixed with the vanilla flavors made us want to throw it out, which we did. If you like the flavor of bitter creamsicles, then, give it a go, but if you’re like us, then stay away from the 305 Matcha.
Cinnamon Roll Matcha Latte: 8/10
The Cinnamon Roll Matcha Latte was one of the best that we tried. It was sweet and tasted like an actual cinnamon roll. This latte was high on our list and almost received the “best drink award” from us. If you like sweet warm flavors, the Cinnamon Roll Matcha is the one to order.
Honey Veil Matcha Latte: 7/10
This matcha is the original for a good reason. It balances sweet and natural flavors combining the bitterness of the matcha and the creaminess of the honeywhip.
NY Summer Matcha Latte: 3/10
The strawberry flavor overpowered the taste of the matcha. If you are someone who drinks matcha for the aesthetic and are not big on the taste, then this matcha is a good option.
Miruku Matcha Latte: 7/10
The taste of this matcha was a little bitter. This matcha had nothing special to it, making it a normal matcha latte. This is the perfect drink to order if you are looking for a classic matcha latte.
Brunei Matcha Latte: 11/10
This matcha latte was our favorite and, in our opinion, the best one to get. The Brunei Matcha had a shot of espresso added to it, enhancing the earthy flavor of matcha, and blending it with the strong taste of coffee without overpowering it. It had the perfect amount of sweetness and is very unique from other matcha lattes.
Overall, Honey Veil has continued to please us with their many diverse and delicious flavors and makes experiencing a matcha latte a little more special and enjoyable.
