Are you looking to romanticize your school year and have a Rory Gilmore fall? Do you want to get all of your schoolwork done and have fun with friends at the same time? We know we do! Let’s make this year all about balance by making studying fun and exploring Miami! Here is a list of our favorite places to study in the city. There are many amazing study spots throughout Miami, especially in Coconut Grove and Coral Gables. Studying here, especially while enjoying the delicious food and if you are with friends, can make this long but necessary activity more enjoyable.
Books and Books Cafe (Coral Gables)
Books and Books Cafe in Coral Gables is a charming local bookstore and cafe. It is the perfect place to sip on a caramel iced latte and chat with friends, get on your study grind while enjoying a delicious homemade hummus platter, or pick up your next Independent Reading Selection.
The staff is super friendly and the cafe has a warm and inviting ambiance with wooden bookshelves lining almost every wall.
As far as seating, you have a choice of indoor or outdoor. The outdoor seating features many tables, large umbrellas, and fans providing a much-needed breeze in the hot Miami weather. But if you are in the mood for some AC, there is an array of tables surrounded by books and nostalgic black-and-white photographs. The seating can fill up quickly, especially on the weekends and around dinner time, so we would recommend getting there early and pushing two tables together to have additional space. What’s more, new indoor seating has been added inside the bookstore!
We know the perfect studying experience isn’t complete without food. The menu offers beverages such as coffees, teas and refreshments. There are also salads and sandwiches for a light snack. If you are in the mood for a sweet treat, the menu also features many delicious dessert options. We really enjoyed the bacon quesadillas, hummus platter, and rich chocolate cake.
Just a short 15-minute drive from Carrollton, we think Books and Books is the perfect place to have interesting conversations with your table neighbors or bring a pair of headphones and focus on schoolwork.
Panther Coffee
Located in the heart of Coconut Grove and only a ten-minute walk from Carrollton, Panther Coffee is a small, inviting cafe to study at. There is an outdoor seating area and a few tables for two to four people inside if you want air conditioning. We sat at a tall table at the entrance with a pretty street view.
It is very easy to concentrate on your work as everyone else is busy too, and there were no loud or distracting groups around. We recommend bringing headphones if you would like to be even more focused. Thanks to the light music, warm lighting, and the reassuring whir of the coffee machines, it has a very calm urban atmosphere.
There is an extensive coffee menu and many sweet and savory pastries. There is also an array of packaged snacks and drinks for something on the go.
Panther Coffee’s free wifi and big tables make it an ideal study spot. If you need to take a break and walk around, there are many other shops and cafes around if you would like to explore for a while or get something different to eat.
Le Pain Quotidien
One of our favorite places to study is the upstairs area of Le Pain Quotidien. Conveniently located in the grove, there are many small tables in the well-lit cafe. There are also a few outside if you would like to enjoy Miami’s warm weather. It is the perfect place to study alone or in a small group. It has a good ambiance and it is very easy to concentrate there since everyone works at a good, respectful noise level.
As far as food goes, the pastries are very good. We recommend the brownie and the crookie, which is a croissant with a cookie inside. There are also some coffees and drinks, and you can even get a full meal if you want. Our personal favorite item on the menu is the prosciutto sandwich.
Le Pain Quotidien is an especially convenient place to study during midterms and finals as it gives you a break from school for a short time while you get lunch and continue reviewing for your tests. It is also the perfect place to hang out with friends or family even if you are not studying.
The Brunchful
This spot, nestled on Miracle Mile, is the perfect place for a Sunday family brunch or your next study sesh. With a delicious array of brunch foods, pastries, and beverages including smoothies and matcha, you can have lots of tasty treats while preparing for your next exam.
The environment is friendly and light, and the service is fantastic. We would recommend bringing headphones as there will likely be people having family meals at surrounding tables.
The decor includes fresh and relaxing greenery, statement lamps, and yummy desserts on display. Overall, the relaxed atmosphere and great food make it a go-to study spot.
