You have “a million things to do” for homework. Not enough time. You slept through your alarm. You have 10 minutes to get to school – We all have been there. Staying organized throughout the year is not a simple task and looks different to everyone. However, organization is an important life skill that can help you manage stress in and out of school.
Create a routine. As a competitive dancer and high school student, I am the first person to stress how valuable time is. Every minute counts. I find it helpful to write down 4-5 things I MUST get done today. Whether it’s writing an essay, doing a 45 minute workout, or attending ballet class, plan out your day and write down how much time each task will take in your day. This not only helps you stay focused on completing your goals, but gives you the opportunity to best manage your time.
Set goals. We all can admit to wanting straight A’s and achieving perfection, but this unrealistic standard may be doing more harm than you think. Don’t overlook your mental health. If you find yourself becoming overwhelmed, try journaling, breathing exercises, or any kind of meditation to process your emotions and clear your head. Self-care helps keep you happy and healthy.
