“Stranger Things” is a popular show that has been running for four seasons. There was a three-year wait after season four for this final season, whose first four episodes have just come out. So, has it been worth the wait?
While “Stranger Things Season Five Volume One” has been entertaining, so far, it has failed to live up to the high expectations. This season finds the characters searching for Vecna. Some are in an alternate dimension, Upside Down; others are in Hawkins, Indiana, and some are on a military base. This means that in these first few episodes, the main friend group is spread out, and they aren’t as close and don’t work together. We miss the interactions and the chemistry of their relationships.
This season, the tone is also heavier and darker than in the past. Dustin used to be the comic relief of the show, but now, after a huge loss, he has become distant and depressed and not as fun to watch.
Another thing that has been disappointing is that the plot revolves around finding Vecna (the main villain) and does not include other conflict or storylines about high school or their love lives, which would have been more interesting.
Finally, as the characters have grown older (some of the actors started when they were children and are now in their twenties), it’s become less relatable to us because we connected more with the younger cast.
But this season hasn’t been all bad. There have been many different scenarios of suspense, including close encounters with monsters and near-death experiences that have kept us on our toes.
Another bright spot has been the unexpected development of Will’s character. In past seasons, he was always very shy and didn’t stand up for himself, but in this season, he has transformed mentally and physically.
As the last and final season, everyone expects it to be the best to end the 10-year franchise of “Stranger Things.” We hope the Second and Third volumes will come out better than ever.
