From Sept. 15 to 19, freshmen participated in Freshmen Welcome Week during which they were dressed by their junior sisters as memes, both old and new.
On Thursday of that week, there was the annual Freshmen Fashion Show to show off the costumes. At the end of the show, students voted for the best costume by cheering loudly for their favorite looks. The finalists then had to do a dance battle to determine a winner.
The dance battle took place on Friday. Looks included Nyla Smith ‘29 as celebrity Ash Trevino; a group of four, Micah Fraser ‘29, Valentina Flipse ‘29, Kiara Hudson ‘29, and Catalina Maria Herrmann ‘29 dressed as the Italian brain rot meme; Allie Reinhard ‘29 as a job application; Elissa Raphael ‘29, Natalie Tessy ‘29, and Kika Kipp ‘29 as performative males; Anna Sophia Pinzon ‘29, Violet Karr ‘29, and Veronica Garcia-Serra ‘29 as 6 ‘7 masons, Eva Garcia-Miro ‘29 as Tara Adams from the TV show “Radio Rebel” and, finally, Karter Sewell 29’ as the titular character from the TV show “Henry Danger.” Sewell won first place for her outstanding tricks and dances onstage.
Performing in front of so many people was a joy for Sewell. “When I was dancing onstage for Freshmen Welcome Week, I was excited to show off my costume to the high school,” she said. “At first I was nervous, but when I got to the stage, I had the best time ever. Winning…made me really excited for the rest of my high school journey at Carrollton.”
In the end, Upper School students enjoyed supporting the freshmen while making them feel welcomed into high school. Now students await the 2026 looks.
