It has been almost three months since the start of the school year, and everyone has a lot happening this fall, especially the upperclassmen.
Between navigating applications, maintaining our grades, and participating in high school activities, the senior class has been busy and has a lot to say.
With our (now over three) years of experience, we are ready to impart some thoughts and wisdom about high school.
Many of us may primarily feel overwhelmed and even defeated by assignments, but Ludivine Horel ‘26 has learned how to get things done. “Create a strong and solid habit of planning out the week ahead of you; school will feel so much easier!” she says.
The seniors have also had a lot of experience learning how to study and pursue their work outside the classroom.
Lola Ranieri ‘26 reminds underclassmen to “take advantage of all the amazing opportunities and resources we have access to thanks to the fact that we go to Carrollton. Very few people our age are able to say that they’ve had several internships or attended tech conferences with entrepreneurs and business executives.”
Other seniors insist that academics are not the only important part of school. Aliyah Rufeh ‘26 regrets spending time doing school work during breaks. To her, “some of the best memories from school are during lunch.”
Lyla Rufeh ‘26 wants us to consider how we balance our priorities. “Everything comes with sacrifice, so pick what’s truly valuable to you long term; oftentimes, it won’t be school,” she says.
And, finally, if you feel intimidated by the year ahead of you, remember what Kaira Borges ’26 says: “God already has the most perfect plan for you–everything works out in the end.”
