Designed by Kenneth F. von Roenn, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky and fabricated by Architectural Glass Art, the new stained glass triptych adorning the west side of the Convocation Center is striking.
“The orthogonal curvilinear metal forms can be understood as representing the school while the organic glass shapes represent the students – the interpretation being, therefore, that the students are supported and given direction by the structure of the school. The central element of the logo can be perceived as a central ‘blossom.’ The leaf shapes flanking and supporting this element represent the union of the students to create a central, unified form of leaves, stalk and blossom,” said von Roenn of his work.
The windows were created to honor all the RSCJs involved in the founding and building of Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart.
The octagonal Rose Window in the Melissa Rodriguez Assembly Hall (Meli’s Hall) was also designed by Kenneth von Roenn under the direction of Sister Ann Taylor, then Headmistress. The ribbon forms represent growth as well as a feminine sensitivity and the effect of the window is to remind one of the centrality of the Holy Spirit in Sacred Heart education.
“As the recipients of Sophie’s vision and the beneficiaries of those who have gone before us, let us commit ourselves to be faithful to the presence and action of God’s Spirit that is alive in us.”
