Carrollton participates in FBLA State Leadership Conference

From March 22 through 24, Carrollton sent representatives from the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club to compete in a state-wide competition.

FBLA is a national organization that was brought to Carrollton in the 2018-2019 school year. The organization focuses on developing leadership skills by preparing students for their careers. Co-founders and co-presidents of the Carrollton FBLA club, Christina Volpe and Sofia Melgarejo, led a group of five club members to compete in the district-wide competition in late January.

Carrollton competed in subjects including Intro to Financial Math, Intro to Business, and Public Speaking. Christina Volpe received third place in her competition category, Journalism, after completing an hour-long objective test on the subject. Receiving third place qualified Christina to compete in a state level competition with students from high schools across Florida. The state competition took place in Orlando, Florida with about 1,400 student attendees. Christina took the Journalism test on Saturday, March 23 with over 75 other competitors. The following night, the award ceremony for the event was held. Although Christina did not place in the top three for her category, she is excited to lead more members in the competition next year and bring home victories.
